Author Event: Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 11am - 2pm
Please join us on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 11am - 2pm when author Penny Mullen will be signing copies of Lahaina Town.
A humorous look at real life on a sunbathed island from a transplant who survived homelessness and hardship in a small tourist town on Maui. This is the true story of an irrepressible and resourceful Lahaina lady who, with the support of a local weaver and a tribe of wacky friends and musicians, overcame the issues of culture, government incompetence, and island time to realize the dream of opening her own bed and breakfast home. Like the uproariously funny "Sex Lives of Cannibals," Penny's book is about acceptance and resilience in a new place and culture. Contrary to the glossy tourist brochures and travel shows, Penny shows us that Hawai'i isn't all rainbows, waterfalls, and sunshine; that paradise is a place, not a promise. So before you go wheels up, know what you're getting into and how to deal with it.
