Game Review:  Killer Bunnies & the Quest for the Magic Carrot

KB & the Quest for the Magic Carrot is a fast-paced, action-filled card game in which you must try to keep as many Bunnies alive as possible, while eliminating your opponents’ Bunnies. The problem: Your opponents are armed with weapons and will stop and nothing to keep you from winning the game which can get dreadfully vengeful, horribly nasty, hilariously messy and just plain fun.
Can you escape the smothering impact of deadly Fluorine Gas or the devastating damage caused by the Stray Asteroid? Defend your Bunnies with a Containment Suit or disarm your opponents with a trip to the Geneva Convention. It’s off-the-wall strategic fun, where the goal is to survive and claim the Magic Carrot to win the game.

Game Review:  Mow

You are a cow farmer. Unfortunately, cows attract flies. Your goal is to minimize the number of flies you bring into your stable. Each fly gives you a “shame” point and whoever has the least amount of shame points wins the game! This is a very simple, easy to learn game. My 5 year old son was able to play easily even though the age recommendation says 7 year. Any child who is able to recognize numbers from 1-16 will be able to play. Warning: This game may cause severe silliness.

Game Review:  Rattlesnake

A fun and challenging game to play with the kids!  The object is to be first to get rid of all your magnetic pieces.  The board contains snakes of several colors.  The die has snake pictures of corresponding colors. The roll of the die indicates which snake you must place a magnet on.  The catch is that as more magnets are on the board they are drawn to each other and if you cause the others to move by placing your magnet, you must take all the magnets which have moved.  The first to end up with no magnets is the winner.  Much harder than you might imagine!

Game Review:  Acquire

Acquire the board game, was originally published in 1962.  After going through several design changes, the game play still remains the same in this classic game of growing and merging corporations.  If you like Monopoly or any of the “money making” type board games, you’ll surely have fun with Acquire.  Best if played with 3 to 6 players, but two can play with special rules.  The object of the game is to build, buy stock in, and then merge growing companies.  Each company grows when players place tiles on the game board that expand the company’s reach.  Corporations merge when a connecting tile is played between two (or three) different companies.  Majority and minority shareholders get payouts from the merger transaction.  The fun (and challenge) began when there are more companies on the board than you can invest in at the same time.  Strategy ensues.  Expect to spend 3 to 5 hours on a good game.

Game Review:  Zombie Fluxx

This is a fun family game! It is a fast paced game that the whole family will enjoy!  The point of flux is that the game’s rules are always changing. What I like about this game that it remains simple to understand so a person or child that has trouble keeping track of multiple or confusing rules can still understand this game.  You can toss this in your bag and go any where with it. Our family takes it when we go camping. The game takes about 20 minutes to play and is for 2-6 players. There are also other Fluxx themes to play, so if you don’t like Zombie fluxx try Standard, Martian, ECO fluxx or family Fluxx. This is a great family game.
